Newborn photography as an art form and is something I feel really passionately about, so I have taken a long time and a lot of training in order to perfectly capture that precious stage of their live. The studio is specially set up for newborn and baby photography. It’s very warm, bright and clean and a wonderful environment. The most important thing with newborn photography is safety: and you can be rest assured that your little ones will be in very safe hands.
The focus in this type of session is on shots of the baby looking perfect, usually in blankets, wraps, hats, & headbands. Editing this type of session also takes quite a bit of time as each image needs to go through Photoshop individually to get a polished end result.
What's the best age to photograph a newborn? Typically must be done within the first 3 weeks of birth when the baby is very sleepy and “mold-able”.The younger the baby, the better – preferably 2 weeks or younger. The best ages we've found are between 6-10days old. But do not worry! I know not all babies arrive on time, or you may not have had the chance to book a photographer. So when we book a session all this is taken in to consideration. Your booking is not a date, it is just you telling me that you would like a session and for me to allow room in my diary for when your baby arrives.
Why does the session take so long? The session can last up to 3 hours with feeding, potty breaks, and posing. We tend to take a lot of sleeping shots, but it's a bonus when they're wide awake too!
Can we be included in the session? Its a lovely experience for both parents and siblings. The studio is open 6 days a week including Saturday & Sundays if you require a weekend session.
What do I bring? It's a good idea to bring extra milk so we can top baby up and make them nice and sleepy. It's also a good idea to bring extra outfits for baby AND mum and dad in case of any accidents whilst moving a naked baby. Lastly – don't forget to bring a blanket to help keep baby warm as well as to settle them in.
How far in advance should I book the session? As soon as you decide you would like us to do your photoshoot, please book your session, we can normally slot you in if it's last minute too!
What props do you have? We've spent a long time researching and purchasing baby friendly props and backdrops, so we do have a lot to offer, call us for a chat if you have something specific in mind.
